The situation
The client wanted to test a new marketplace concept quickly — connecting homeowners with experts for paid video consultations. The product needed expert profiles, real-time scheduling, video calls and payments, all in one Bubble app.
Bubble was chosen because the client needed to validate the marketplace concept before committing to a custom-coded platform. The visual editor meant we could build the full two-sided experience — expert onboarding, client booking, video sessions and payment processing — in five weeks.
The marketplace logic was complex: availability sync, booking confirmations, video room creation, session duration tracking and split payments. All of this had to work reliably from day one because real money was changing hands.
What we built
We built the complete two-sided marketplace in Bubble, integrating video, scheduling and payments through the API Connector plugin.
Expert profiles and onboarding
Experts onboard through a multi-step Bubble flow — profile creation, credential verification, availability setup and Stripe Connect onboarding. The profile page shows expertise areas, reviews, pricing and available time slots. Privacy rules ensure experts manage only their own profiles and see only their own booking data.
Scheduling and availability
Real-time availability is managed through Bubble data types for TimeSlots linked to Expert profiles. When a client books a slot, backend Bubble workflows mark it as taken, send confirmation emails via SendGrid, and create the video room. Scheduled API workflows handle reminder notifications before each session.
Video consultation integration
Daily.co provides the video infrastructure. The Bubble app creates a unique room for each booked session via the API Connector plugin, embeds the video player in an iframe, and tracks session duration through Bubble workflows. When a session ends, the workflow triggers payment processing and prompts both parties for reviews.
Payment and payout flows
Stripe handles client payments and expert payouts through Stripe Connect. The Bubble API Connector manages the payment split — platform fee retained, remainder sent to the expert's connected Stripe account. Webhook receivers built as Bubble API workflows handle payment confirmations, disputes and refund requests.

The result
Launched with 50+ verified experts. Hundreds of paid sessions completed in month one. The Bubble marketplace handles booking, video and payment flows end-to-end without manual intervention.
The client validated the marketplace concept in five weeks and continues to onboard new experts through the Bubble admin dashboard JetBuild built.
