MondoFit — bubble rescue · 3 weeks

What was blocking progress

  • Subscription logic broken
  • Progress tracking not working
  • Mobile experience unusable

The situation

MondoFit's founder had built the initial version on Bubble themselves but hit a wall. Stripe subscription logic wasn't handling trial-to-paid conversions, workout progress tracking had broken data relationships, and the mobile experience was unusable.

The app needed a Bubble developer who could diagnose the data architecture problems and fix them without rebuilding from scratch. Three weeks was the window before the planned launch.

Bubble was the right platform for MondoFit — the founder needed to keep iterating on workout programs and pricing after launch. The problem wasn't Bubble, it was the implementation. The database structure, workflow logic and responsive layout all needed reworking by someone who understood how Bubble handles relational data and conditional rendering.

What we built

We audited the existing Bubble app, identified the structural issues, and rebuilt the broken pieces while preserving what already worked.

Subscription workflow repair

The Stripe integration was partially wired — payments went through but trial periods, cancellations and plan changes didn't sync back to the Bubble database. We rebuilt the subscription workflows using Bubble API workflows as webhook receivers, so every Stripe event (payment succeeded, subscription cancelled, trial ending) updates the user's record automatically.

Workout tracking data architecture

The original build stored workout data as text fields on the User data type — no relational structure, no history. We created proper data types for Programs, Workouts, Sets and Progress entries with relational links. "Do a search for" queries with date constraints now pull a user's history without loading every record in the database.

Mobile responsive rebuild

The Bubble app was built desktop-first with fixed-width groups that broke on mobile. We restructured every page using Bubble's responsive engine — proper group nesting, conditional visibility rules and mobile-specific layouts. The workout interface works during training sessions on a phone, which is where most users need it.

Progress visualisation

Custom states and conditional formatting show users their workout streaks, weight progression and completion rates. All rendered in Bubble's native repeating groups with dynamic styling — no external charting libraries needed.

  • Stripe subscription flows with proper trial-to-paid conversion tracking
  • Rebuilt workout data architecture with relational data types
  • Mobile-responsive layouts using Bubble's responsive engine
  • Progress visualisation with custom states and dynamic formatting
Programs — users browse and start structured workout plans.
Progress — workout history and tracking with visual feedback.
Subscription — Stripe-powered trial to paid conversion.
Mobile workout — optimized for use during training sessions.

The result

MondoFit launched in four weeks total. 40% of trial users converted to paid subscriptions in the first billing cycle — the Stripe webhook integration meant every payment event synced cleanly back to the Bubble database.

The founder continued iterating on workout programs and pricing tiers after handover, using the clean data architecture and documented Bubble workflows JetBuild delivered.
